Sara Jane Ho (Chinese:何佩嵘;born December 5, 1985) is an etiquette teacher and entrepreneur from Hong Kong. She is currently Founder and Principal of Institute Sarita, a finishing school headquartered in Beijing, China, since 2013. In May 2015, she opened her second school in Shanghai.

Early life and education

Ho attended primary and secondary schools at Peak School and German Swiss International School in Hong Kong, and in 2000 left to attend Phillips Exeter Academy, a boarding school in USA. In 2003 she enrolled in Georgetown University, graduating in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Government. She continued to study an MBA at Harvard Business School graduating in 2012.[1][2]

Perella Weinberg Partners

From 2007 to 2009, Ho was an M&A analyst at Perella Weinberg Partners, a boutique investment bank in New York.

Wokai

After completing her analyst programme she moved to Beijing in 2009 to join online microfinance non-profit Wokai as a full-time volunteer leading Business Development & Fundraising.

Institute Sarita

After graduating from Institut Villa Pierrefeu, a finishing school in Switzerland, Ho moved to Beijing and established Institute Sarita in 2013. Based on a Swiss finishing school concept, the institute provides lifestyle and etiquette training under two main courses: Hostessing, a 12-day course for USD16,000, targeting married women; and Debutante, a 10-day course for USD13,000, targeting unmarried women. Courses include western table manners, floral arrangement, table conversation, dresscodes, British afternoon tea, etc. In May 2015, Ho opened a second school in Shanghai.[3][4][5][6]

Honors and awards

An FEI-level equestrian rider, Ho competed in the Longines Beijing Equestrian Masters international show jumping competition in the Olympic Stadium in May 2014.[7]

In 2013, Ho was included on the Forbes 2013 list “Future Women in the Mix in Asia: 12 to Watch" and in 2015 was included as "30 under 30" for BBC 100 Women.[8] Ho is a Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum.[9]

Institute Sarita was recognised as one of the "World's Most Innovative 50 Companies" by Fast Company magazine in 2014.[10]
