Shankill railway station (Irish: Stáisiún Sheanchill) serves Shankill, in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland.
History
The original station, situated some 650 metres south-west of the current station, opened on 10 July 1854 as part of the Harcourt Street Line linking Dublin with Bray. The original station was closed when the line closed in 1958. Sadly, its original facade was covered up during construction of the Shankill Business Centre during the 1970s. It is not intended to make use of the original Shankill Station during the construction of any future Luas line extensions.
The current Shankill Station was opened on 10 June 1977.[1] It was upgraded in 1983 to cater for the new electrified DART trains. The station provides a car park for commuters.[2]
The ticket office is open between 07:00-10:00 AM, Monday to Friday.
Routes
It is served by DART suburban rail service, and at peak times by Dublin Connolly diesel commuter trains. It is not served by Inter City services.[3]
