Sharq al Jazeera

Sharq Al Jazeera (SAJ) (Arabic for "ُEast of the Island") is a privately owned marine construction company operating only in Qatar. Their services includes pontoon manufacturing, floating docks manufacturing and installation, deep sea excavation, waterfront development, rock armouring and slipway construction.

History

The company was founded in 1999 to acquire marine construction subcontracts. At that time, there were hardly any marine construction companies in the country, resulting in the outsourcing of construction contracts to foreign companies. Sharq al Jazeera emerged as a price-leading alternative to multinational firms.

Projects

Sharq al Jazeera, as a new entrant to the market, has won numerous contracts over the last 10 years. The company manufactures pontoons, floats and gangways as well as providing installation and maintenance services. Sharq al Jazeera has jointly worked with numerous European companies and has operated as a joint venture partner for many foreign companies.
