Silicon Vikings is a non-profit professional networking organization, working to connect the business and technology sector in the Nordic region (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden) and Baltic region (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) to Silicon Valley.

Background and activities

In 1997, the organization was initiated by Kjell Olsson, Håkan Lindh and Magnus Eriksson to provide networking opportunities for Swedish professionals in Silicon Valley.[2] Later, the group decided to re-focus the organization to include anyone interested in the intersecting world of business, technology, Silicon Valley and the Nordics and Baltics.[3]

In 2011, the organization went through a re-structuring by changing its online visual identity and by hiring Adiba Barney (previously Cremonini) as Executive Director.[4]

In January 2014, Adiba Barney (previously Cremonini) left Silicon Vikings to take on the role as CEO of SV Forum.[5]

In January 2015, Charlotte Danielsson joined Silicon Vikings as Executive Director.[6]

Silicon Vikings creates technology and business driven events, projects and social networking events.

Silicon Vikings Nodes in the Nordics and the Baltics

Apart from the headquarters in Palo Alto, California, Silicon Vikings also has activities in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The Nordic/Baltic nodes include the following cities:

Silicon Vikings Copenhagen (Denmark)

Silicon Vikings Copenhagen Node (SVC) was founded on October 18, 2011, by Navid Ostadian-Binai (Head of EMEA, Cogniance). It covers the Capital Region of Denmark and the Øresund Region.[7][8][9][10][11]

Silicon Vikings Helsinki (Finland)

Silicon Vikings Helsinki Node (SVH) was founded on November 18, 2014, by Esa Halmari. It covers the Greater Helsinki Region.[12]

Silicon Vikings Oslo (Norway)

Silicon Vikings Oslo Node (SVO) was founded on April 19, 2012, by Thang Vo and Tone Ringstad. It covers the Greater Oslo Region.[13][14]

Silicon Vikings Reykjavik (Iceland)

Silicon Vikings Reykjavik Node (SVR) to be launched in 2015. It will cover the Iceland Region.[15]

Silicon Vikings Riga (Latvia)

Silicon Vikings Riga Node (SVRi) was founded on November 21, 2014, by Alise Lezdina. It covers the Latvia Region.[16]

Silicon Vikings Stockholm (Sweden)

Silicon Vikings Stockholm Node (SVS) was founded in 2009 by Jakob Vendle. It covers the Greater Stockholm Region.[17][18][19]

Silicon Vikings Tallinn (Estonia)

Silicon Vikings Tallinn Node (SVT) was founded on July 3, 2014 by Merlin Salvik. It covers the Estonia Region.[20][21]

Silicon Vikings Vilnius (Lithuania)

Silicon Vikings Vilnius Node (SVV) to be launched on March 5, 2015 by Danielius Stasiulis. It will cover the Lithuania Region.[22]
