Simon Patmore (born 29 August 1987) is an Australian athletics competitor. He competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he earned a gold medal. He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in athletics.

Personal

Patmore was born on 29 August 1987,[1] and is from the Brisbane area[2][3] suburb of Carseldine[3][4] in Queensland.[5] As of 2012, he works as a public servant, working for Queensland Health as a technology officer.[6] Simon was born with Erb's palsy, having nerve damage in his left arm.

Patmore is a T46 classified competitor.[3][7][8][9][10] He took up running in 2009.[6] As of April 2011, as a 23-year-old, he had a personal best time in the 100-metre race of 11.14 seconds.[8] One of his Australian rivals is Gabriel Cole.[11]

Patmore competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He finished first in the T46 men's 100-metre event with a time of 11.14 seconds.[6][7][8][12][13][14][15][16] In April 2011, he participated in the Stawell Gift in the 120-metre race,[8][17] starting at the 8-metre mark.[15] At the January 2011 IPC World Athletics Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a time of 22.43 seconds, he finished third in the 200-metre race.[18][19] At the 2011 Australian Athletics Championships, he finished first in the 200-metre final.[20] He competed at the 2012 Brisbane Track Classic,[3] where he set a Paralympic qualifying time in the 100-metre event.[10] His performance increased his rank to fourth in the world.[10] He competed in the 2012 Australian Athletics Championships,[9] where he won the men's 400-metre event with a time of 51.05 seconds.[9] He was selected to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in athletics.[1][5][21][22][23] His twenty-fifth birthday was the same day as the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Games.[6] Going into the Games, he was ranked third in the world.[6]

At the 2012 Summer Paralympics Patmore won a bronze medal in the Men's 200 m T46.[24]
