Snälltåget is a train operator owned by Transdev running long distance trains along the Southern Main Line in Sweden from Malmö to Stockholm.
History
The operator was set up in 2006 as Veolia Transport after partial deregulation of the Swedish rail network running adhoc services. Regular weekend services began in 2009 (expanding to weekdays in 2010), after the network was fully deregulated, running in direct competition with the state-owned operator SJ. The summer night train extension to Berlin was launched in 2012 with the network rebranding as Snälltåget in 2013.[1]
Route
The main route operated stretches from Malmö to Stockholm and Uppsala which operates throughout the year.[2] In the winter season the main route extents to Åre. During the summer months a long distance train also operates from Malmö to Berlin with train ferry via Trelleborg to Sassnitz.[3]
