Som Parkash is a current politician and former IAS officer in Punjab, India and belongs to the Bharatiya Janta Party. He is a member of Punjab Legislative Assembly and represent Phagwara.[1] He is also a former deputy commissioner of Jalandhar.[2]
Family
His father's name is Hazara Ram.[3]
Political career
Som Parkash first unsuccessfully contested for Lok Sabha during Indian general elections in 2009 from Hoshiarpur constituency[2] Due to corruption charges, sitting MLA from Phagwara Swarna Ram was dropped from the state cabinet, which led BJP to look for a new candidate and Som Parkash was appointed as BJP candidate in 2012 Punjab elections. He successfully contested and became member of Punjab Legislative assembly.[4]
