South magazine
South magazine is a bi-monthly magazine published in Savannah Georgia. It was founded in 2005 by Michael Brooks[1] and has been around for 11 years. [1] The publication has an audited circulation of 19,500 per issue and a readership of 80,000.[2] The average number of South magazine's subscribers is 4,500 and is continuing to grow. It's sold in 76 different retail locations in the state's, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and Florida.
Awards & Recognitions
South magazine is this region's most award-winning publication. The Georgia Magazine Association has presented South with nine GAMMA Awards for both design and editorial excellence. These awards recognize outstanding leaders within the publishing industry.
In 2015, Foliomag named South, "One of the top 7 magazines that are raising the bar in 2015," and was awarded a 2015 Mag Medic Honor. This award is given to print books with extraordinarily creative and editorial management that continues to thrive despite the odds. On their website they have deemed South as, "A vibrant book that has been developed into a beautifully turned-out love poem."
Tourism and South
South's business is greatly influenced by the amount of tourists that visit the states they sell in. With over 18 million tourists visiting yearly the economic impact tourism has on the Savannah-Chatham area averages at $1.94 billion. South is featured in 5,200 hotel rooms where 6.8 million tourists stay overnight, which brings in a great amount of business for South. 80% of their readers are generally between the ages of 25 and 54 while 46% of them have a combined annual household income of more than $100,000.

Being a bi-monthly magazine with 63 issues South has a theme for each of them that correspond with the time of year.
February/March:
The Celebration Issue. Featuring memorable occasions in the South, this issue shows how people celebrate anniversaries and milestones in their lives. The 2016 issue, Faces of the South, was a special collector's edition in celebration of excellence, saluting the most influential southerners of the decade.
Themes: Weddings, anniversaries, successful businesses and people.
April/May:
The Travel & Adventure Issue. It features Coastal South travel destinations and adventure tips for the fun-loving Southerner. Also included is the South's Guide to the Greatest Places to Eat, Stay, Play & Shop, which is a comprehensive guide to eating, playing, staying and shopping in the Coastal South.
Themes: Outdoor Activities, Adventurous Hobbies, Green Living, Environmental Conservation, Nature, Water Activities, Local Tourism and Outdoor Cooking.
Contest: South's Greatest Destinations & South's Greatest Moms
June/July:
The Power Professional issue. It has three advertorial sections featuring Law Money & Luxury and the South's Finest Lawyers and Financial Experts.
Themes: Big Business, Southern Way of Business, Law in the South, Unique Professions, Interpretations of "Law" and "Legality," Southern Outlaws.
Contest: South's Greatest Bosses & Dads
August/September:
The Style issue. It has two special advertorial sections featuring South's Hottest Salon's and Spas and South's Best Home Design and Fashion Destinations, including trend-setting personal and home-décor style resources.
Themes: Luxury Trends in Fashion and Interior Design, Beauty Tips and Tricks, Southern Street Style, Upscale Living.
Contest: South's Greatest Pets
October/November:
The Film, Food & Famous Folks Issue. It features DineSouth with the greatest places to eat in the south. DineSouth presents the finest restaurants and dishes in the Coastal South, including behind-the-scenes looks at the South's Greatest Chefs and a Showcase of Menu Specialties.
Themes: South's Finest Restaurants, Stars of the South, Local Film Industry, Comprehensive Bar Guide, Savannah Movies.
Contest: South's Greatest Chefs & South's Greatest Bartenders
December/January:
The Health & Wellness Issue. It features the best doctor's, medical and dental professionals that South recommends to their readers.
Themes: Healthy Living, Fitness Trends and Exercise Guides, Spiritual Living, Medical Achievements, Renewal and Rebirth.
