Background

J. Cole self-produced 14 out of the 21 tracks on the mixtape, including his debut single, "Simba", which Cole shot his first music video for. The mixtape also features samples from Kanye West, Nas, Jay-Z, Ghostface Killah, and more, while including guest features from Deacon and Nervous Reck.^[3]^[4]
