The Hospital Club
Coordinates: 51°30′53″N 0°7′29″W / 51.51472°N 0.12472°W The Hospital Club is a centre for London's creative community housing a television studio, screening room, live performance space, restaurant, lounges and gallery over seven floors. The Club is at 24 Endell Street, Covent Garden, London on the site of an 18th-century hospital.
Description
The Hospital Club was founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen through his investment company Vulcan Inc. and David A. Stewart musician (formerly of the band Eurythmics), producer and Founder of Weapons of Mass Entertainment.
The Hospital Club's main ethos is to support the creative industries by providing an inspiring environment that actively encourages its members to create, connect and collaborate. Members include designers, writers, creative entrepreneurs, performers, producers, musicians and film makers.
In September 2013 the Hospital Club opened the Oak Room live performance space with performances from Turin Brakes, Psychemagik, Jumoke Fashola, Gary Numan, and the London Cabaret Festival among others.
The Hospital Club also hosts the hClub100, a national search for the most innovative and influential people working across the creative industries.
The Hospital Club has partnerships with the BFI London Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, D&AD and BAFTA as well as the British Fashion Council who launched their inaugural menswear week at the Club in June 2012.
Events includes film previews, industry networking evenings and thought leadership talks, wine tastings, supper clubs and chef masterclasses as well as a book club and writers' salon.

Food hygiene ratings
In 2014, the club received a zero rating for food hygiene after an inspection found mouse droppings in kitchens prompting worries of cross-contamination.[1][2]
In 2015, The Hospital Club received a five star rating by the Foods Standard Agency. [3]
History of the building
As its name suggests, for many years the building was home to St Paul's Hospital, first established in 1749.
- 1749 — Maternity hospital for ‘the distressed poor – married women only’ opened
- 1915 — War Office give premises to women medics – the Endell Street Military Hospital
- 1923 — St Paul’s Hospital moves from Red Lion Square to Endell Street
- 1948 — Amalgamated with St Peter’s to become a teaching hospital in the newly established NHS
- 1959 — Became the first artificial kidney unit in the UK
- 1961 — First dialysis in the UK performed at St Paul’s
- 1992 — St Paul’s Hospital closed
- 1996 — Building purchased by Paul Allen, planning submitted. Local objections to development mean the project stalls for a number of years while a compromise with residents is worked out
- 1999–2003 — Renovation begins
- 2003 — TV studio and gallery open
- 2004 — Private members' club, restaurant and recording studio open
