The Stronghold is the second thriller and the eighth fiction book by Ukrainian writer and traveller Max Kidruk. The novel is described as a psycho-thriller/adventure thriller.[1] One of the main characters was depicted from the author himself.[2]

Plot

The group of five students from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm including a Ukrainian Levko Bartosh (Leo), a Russian Semen Tvardowsky (Sioma), an American Gram Kelly, a Czech Ian Fidler and a Japanese Satomi Higenori cannot decide where they should go for vacations. Having heard the Leo and Sioma’s argument in one Stockholm pub, an old artist Gunnas Ivers invites the boys to his house where in a big worry and hurry he tells them the story about Inca civilization, the ruins, which according to some historians were built by Incas, but which, however, could not be erected by Incas given their level of technology. The artist also tells them a legend about a lost city called Paititi, shows them a blurred photo of some unknown ruins in selva and gives them a handwritten map supposed to lead to that place. After some deliberations the guys decide to go to Peru and look for the Inca’s stronghold.[2]

Gunnar Ivers who told them about Paititi was brutally murdered in his studio. However being unaware of this, the group leaves for Peru to face the unknown.[2]

Interesting facts
