The Wilmette Theatre

Opened in 1913, the Wilmette Theatre is a historic landmark movie theater for the village of Wilmette, Illinois. People could go there to watch films for 10 cents a ticket. Around 1950, EBF (Encyclopædia Britannica Films) bought the building. In 1966 Richard Stern bought the Theatre from EBF, and operated it for 40 years.[1]

In 2006, the Wilmette Theatre was about to be turned into furniture, when two local families bought it. Since then, they have done many refurbishing since the purchase. Recently, their kickstarter[2] project to get another digital projector was successful. Now the theatre is beginning to show current movies, as well as old classics. They also show a lot of independent films.

Upstairs at the Wilmette Theatre, they have the famous Actors Training Center (ATC).[3] Many famous students have come from ATC. ATC uses the theatre's 2nd theatre for their plays and musicals, performed by their Repertory Company.
