USS LST-484 was an LST-1-class tank landing ship built for the United States Navy during World War II. LST-484 was laid down on 28 September 1942 at Richmond, California by Kaiser Steel; launched on 2 January 1943 and commissioned on 23 April 1943.[1]
Service History
During World War II, LST-484 was assigned to the Asiastic Pacific Theatre and participated in the following operations: Gilbert Islands operation (21 November-8 December 1943); the Battle of Kwajalein (2-8 February 1944); the Battle of Eniwetok (19 February-2 March 1944); the Battle of Saipan (15 June-30 July 1944); the Battle of Tinian (July 1944); and the Battle of Okinawa (26 March-30 June 1945). LST-484 was assigned to occupation duties from 8 January to 20 February 1946. She was then decommissioned on 27 July 1946, struck from the Naval Register on 28 August 1946 and sold for scrapping on 13 December 1947 to Kaiser Steel.
LST-484 earned five battle stars for World War II service.
