New Jersey (SSN-796), a Virginia-class submarine, will be the third U.S. Navy ship named for the state of New Jersey. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced the name on May 24, 2015, at a ceremony in Jersey City, New Jersey.[2][3][4]
