History

The company was founded in 1993 by Matthias Reinhart and Max Bolanz. The company was firstly called VZ Versicherungszentrum AG. The idea was to provide price comparison and benchmarks in the Swiss insurance and banking sector. Initially, the commercial activity consisted of insurance brokerage for private individuals.

The range of services was expanded over the years. In 1997 the name was changed to VZ Vermögenszentrum AG and the articles of association where adjusted. From now on insurance brokerage was no longer the core business. Business activities now where and still are financial consulting as well as wealth management.

In the year 2000 the group of companies was organized in holding structure. In March 2007 the subsidiary VZ Depotbank AG was authorised as bank and securities dealer by the Swiss Federal Banking Commission. Also during March 2007 VZ Holding Ltd effected its initial public offering (IPO).[3]

Matthias Reinhart, founder and Chief Executive Officer of VZ Holding Ltd, holds a majority of shares both directly and indirectly (indirectly through Madarex Ltd, a company he controls). In addition to Matthias Reinhart, four institutional investors controlled more than 3% of the voting rights: UBS Fund Management (Switzerland) Ltd, DWS Investment GmbH (Frankfurt), Capital Group Companies and FIL Limited.
