Vahe Sasunts (Armenian: Վահէ Սասունտս) (born 22 March 1997) is an Armenian-Irish tech enthusiast and entrepreneur.
Life
Vahe Sasunts was born in the city of Gyumri, son of Tigran and Janna Sasunts. His family moved to Russia when he was aged one and to Ireland when he was three. He grew up in Co. Kildare, where he attended school. He played rugby for Cill Dara RFC from eleven, earning three Leinster Rugby medals.
He joined SciFest and the BT Young Scientist competition in September 2012, winning awards at the latter. He represented Ireland at Google's 'Trailblazer' summit in Zurich the same year and at Mountain View, California the following year. He is currently a computer science ambassador for Google. In 2014 he entered SciFest and won the Intel Best Physical Science or Technology Project Award.
He currently studies at Trinity College, Dublin.
As part of Google Cape Virtual, Sasunts worked on an app called Smile, aimed at monitoring mental health issues and preventing suicide among teenagers. This app was well received by the Irish public. He created a model go-kart which was a national finalist in the E.T.T.A Young Engineer Competition.
