Valluvanadu, Malappuram
Valluvanad is a historical region between the knolls of Panthallur and the seashore villages of Ponnani.[1]
History
Zamorin of Calicut attacked the surrounding area of Valluvanad during the Medieval period. He captured Mamamkam from Valluvakkonathiri and later Nedunganad and Palakkad from Nedungethirippad and Palakkad Raja.[2][3]
Valluvanad was ruled by Valluvakkonathiri beginning in 8th century A.D. Valluvakkonathiri was Samantha under the Ceras of Makotai from the 9th to 12th centuries. Valluvakkonathiri claimed that the right to organize Mamamkam was given by the last Cera Perumal, Rama Kulasekhara. This caused jealousy among other Samathas of Kerala. Zamorin of Calicut attacked Tirunavaya to capture the right of Mamamkam.
