Vat19 is an ECommerce gift shop and YouTube production team based in St. Louis, Missouri. The company was founded by Jamie Salvatori and began as a video production group that filmed commercials for local businesses. In 2007, Vat19 began acquiring products and making video commercials on YouTube to advertise for these products; as of August 2016, they have more than 3 million subscribers on YouTube.

History

Vat19.com initially produced and sold DVDs. They began acquiring other products soon after and making videos to accompany them. CEO Jamie Salvatori describes his company as "an online gift store, and we try to find unique items that are fun and functional."[1]

Vat19 was listed on Time's 2012 list of 50 Best Websites.[2] Many of their products have also been included on lists by BuzzFeed.[3][4][5][6][7] They are especially known for gummy candy, including giant gummy bears, giant gummy worms, and gummy pizza.[8][9]

In May 2015, Vat19 launched a Kickstarter campaign[10] to manufacture the Not-a-Cat Cat, originally a prop that had been shown or mentioned in earlier videos. They met their Kickstarter funding within 2 days.[11]

YouTube channel

Vat19's YouTube channel has over 3 million subscribers and more than 800 videos.

In August 2015, they released a video called "Dude Decent", a parody of the YouTube channel Dude Perfect, which gained media attention[12][13] and acknowledgement from Dude Perfect.[14]

In January 2016, a Vat19 video showing one of their employees getting into a bathtub of thinking putty trended on YouTube's Top Trending Videos for several hours[15][16] and was featured on many blogs and websites.[17][18][19] It has attracted more than 14 million views.
