Vegayammapeta is a village in the municipality of Ramachandrapuram, East Godavari, in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

Geography

Vegayammapeta is 2 km east of Draksharama, on the road to Yanam. Its purely agricultural village, main crops are paddy and sugarcane.

Religion

The village is home to Hindu temples dedicated to Rama, Shiva and Venkateswara.

There are also a number of temples dedicated to the local village goddesses Gollalamma and Yellaramma. The festival of Gollalamma is celebrated every three years, in January. The Sankranthi festival and the festival of Yellaramma are celebrated annually in April or May.

The village has mythological importance in Hindu history. There are two (2) sivalayams in this village which were very historical and famous. Recently Gollalamma talli festival celebrated in January 2013

Diwanam

The Zamindars of Vegayammapeta built this in the year 1897 named VADREVU ZAMINDARS, who ruled this village along with 13 other nearby villages by collecting tax from the villagers on behalf of British Government.

Education

The local senior school is the Sri Mahalakshmamma Hindu high school, which has been in operation since the 1927s which was established by vadrevu zamindars.
