Nikolske Raion (Ukrainian: Нікольський район), until May 2016 Volodarske Raion (Ukrainian: Володарський район), is one of the 33 regions of Donetsk Oblast, located in southwestern Ukraine. The administrative center of the raion is the urban-type settlement of Nikolske. Population: 29,284 (2013 est.)[1].
On 21 May 2016, Verkhovna Rada adopted decision to rename Volodarske Raion to Nikolske Raion according to the law prohibiting names of Communist origin.[2] The raion center, Volodarske, was previously renamed to Nikolske.
