Whitcomb Glenn Speer was the second head football coach for the Fort Hays State University Tigers located in Hays, Kansas and he held that position for four seasons, from 1915 until 1918. His career coaching record at Fort Hays was 18 wins, 6 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 11th at Fort Hays in total wins and second at Fort Hays in winning percentage.[1]
While coaching at Fort Hays, he led the Tigers to 12 consecutive victories from the second game in the 1916 season to seventh game in the 1917 season—a record that stands as of the conclusion of the 2007 season. His 1915 and 1917 teams also are tied for the most consecutive games without being scored upon.[2]
