WASH Media Award
WASH Media Award are co-sponsored by the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) and Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). The award aim at highlight the role of media in creating awareness about the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene services. The first award was given in 2002 and is given every second year. The award is for journalists which in their work highlights the significance of water, sanitation and hygiene services.
Laureates
2004-2006:
- Nadia El-Awady, journalist från Egypten och redaktör för "Islam Online". Hennes journalistiska arbete belyser de olika hoten mot Nilen, Egyptens livlina och blodåder.
2007-2008:
- Winfred Onyimbo, Kenya - category of the English language, Trans World Radio, for hennes radioreportage "Disease in a bottle"
- Claudine Efoa Atohoun, Benin - category of the French language, Office of Radio and Television, för hennes radioreportage "Dassa, la commune des 41 collines"
- Cátia Toffoletto, Brazil - category of the Spanish language, CBN - Radio São-Paulo, för hennes radioreportage "Water, the waste condemning São-Paulo"
- Ms Salome Gregory Sumbya, Tanzania - gender category, Mwananchi Communications Ltd, för hennes artikel "This is Same, where fetching water means children miss classes"
