WKXC-FM, also known as "Kicks 99", is a Country music radio station located in Augusta, Georgia. The station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to the city of Aiken, South Carolina and broadcasts on 99.5.FM with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 24 kW. Its studios are located just two blocks from the Augusta-Richmond County border in unincorporated Columbia County, Georgia and the transmitter is in Murphy Village, South Carolina.
History
99.5 signed on in Aiken, SC in August 1966 as WAKN-FM and simulcasted with its AM "Top 40" sister. In 1974 it changed call signs to WNEZ ("Nice and Easy") with a beautiful music/easy listening format. In the summer of 1988, it changed to Country as WKXC-FM under the "Kicks 99.5" moniker.
The station is owned by Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc., through licensee Beasley Media Group, LLC.
