Fox Sports 1670 is the home of the Bill Shanks Show from 3-6 pm every weekday. Shanks is joined by producer Russ Brown, update anchor Charles Olson, and occasionally Skip Seda. The program focuses on state sports, with the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Atlanta Hawks the main focus.

WPLA also is the flagship station for Mercer University Bears Basketball.

History

The station was assigned the call letters WAXP on March 6, 1998. On July 1, 1998, the station changed its call sign to WNML, then on March 1, 1999 to WRNC. WRNC changed on November 17, 2003 to WMWR, again on February 21, 2006 to WVVM, then on March 2, 2009 to WFSM, and on October 14, 2010 to the current WPLA.^[2]
