Wanniyala is a genus of cellar spiders in the family Pholcidae, containing only two species endemic to Sri Lanka.[1]
Etymology
The generic name is coming from native Sri Lankan people called Vedda people and their surname of Wanniyala-Aetto. They are the earliest civilized people in the island, originate through son and daughter of Kuveni and King Vijaya.[2]
Description
They are small cellar spiders about 2 mm in maximum length. They have six eyes and usually spider type four pair of legs. Abdomen is globular and male has distinctive distal hinged sclerite on procursus in genitalia.[2]
