Washington Waldorf School

The Washington Waldorf Schoolis located in Bethesda, Maryland, just north of Washington, DC. The school is a Waldorf school, based on the teachings of Rudolf Steiner. The school is one of over 150 Waldorf schools in North America and serves about 290 students from preschool through grade 12.[1][2]

History

The Washington Waldorf School was founded initially as a grade school in 1969 in Washington, DC, and in 1981 moved to its current six-acre campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The high school was added in 1984 and graduated its first 12th grade in 1988.[1]

The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools[3] and the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.[4] The school's sports teams (baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, and softball) compete in the Potomac Valley Athletic Conference.[5]
