Werenskiold (noble family)

Werenskiold, also spelled Werenschiold, Wærenskiold, Werenskjold etcetera, is a Danish and Norwegian noble family living in Norway.

Niels Wernersen (* in 1669, † on 25 July 1741), a son of Werner Nielsen and Helvig Kristensdatter, married on 7 January 1698 Elisabeth de Tønsberg (* in 1673, † on 13 July 1742), a daughter of Mads Mathias de Tønsberg to Ulveland and Anne Cathrine Willumsdatter Mecklenburg. They had, among other children, the daughter Karen.

Niels Wernersen was in 1717 ennobled under the name Werenschiold with a new coat of arms [1]
