You Are My Canvas is a demo by the emo/post-hardcore band Boys Night Out. All of the tracks made it onto later releases, although some in different versions. The demo version of "Sketch Artist Composite" doesn't differ too much from the version that made it onto Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses. The only noticeable difference is some different vocals at different points. The version of "The Anatomy of the Journey" that appears on this demo differs from its counterpart on Make Yourself Sick in one way: guitar distortion. This version features a short guitar lead in and uses a different tone throughout the song.

Jeff Davis recruited Connor Lovat-Fraser in hopes of re-recording two Boys Night Out songs from when the band had initially formed in 1998 and broken up immediately after playing one show. Connor played the drums and sang and Jeff played the guitar parts and bass part on "Sketch Artist Composite" and "The Anatomy of the Journey". After recording the two songs, they sought out the remaining members of the band. Rob Pasalic, the original guitarist, came back. They recruited Dave Costa, formerly of the band Ruins, to play bass. The finished out their line up with Chris Danner, formerly of the hardcore band Grade, on drums. After recording this demo, they started to tour again. Chris Danner was replaced shortly thereafter by Ben Arseneau.

The title of this demo is taken from a lyric in the song "Sketch Artist Composite".
