Zahid Gishkori (born 6 April 1981) is a Pakistani journalist and researcher known for his coverage of political and investigative reporting. He was named an Alfred Friendly/Daniel Pearl Fellow by The Kansas City Star in 2014.[1][2][3][4] He also got fellowship of Investigative Reporters and Editors.[5]
Gishkori is currently affiliated with Geo TV and The News International. He is contributing for The Washington Post from Pakistan. Before this he worked for The Express Tribune.In 2013, Gishkori was awarded Pakistan's first ever journalism awards Agahi Award,[6] and Canadian High Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Pakistani Journalism for his investigation reporting on Airblue Flight 202 that crashed in 2010 near Islamabad[7][8][9][10]
He holds master's degree in English literature and political science from Bahauddin Zakariya University as well as a Master's in mass communication from Allama Iqbal Open University.[7][11]
In 2012, Gishkori received South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Media Fellowship, selected for Summer Academy at International Institute for Journalism (IIJ, in German: Internationales Institut für Journalismus) in Germany and International Center for Journalists (ICFJ-Washington DC) Fellowship in Nepal in 2013.[12][13][14] Mr. Gishkori received another award this year, 2015.[15] His in-depth investigative story is being featured by the top global investigative body, Global Investigative Journalism Network to its annual report by considering it for award.[16]
