Zahra Golafshani

Zahra Golafshani is an Iranian-born Canadian filmmaker based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.

Background

Golafshani attended Laurentian University where she studied in the Motion Picture Arts curriculum within the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree program. She has directed three short films: Bullet-Headed [2014], Perceptions [2015], and Private Sessions [2016]. All three films were finalists in the Open category at the CTV Best in Shorts Competition at Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival. Perceptions received the Innovation Award, while Bullet-Headed received the prize Runner-Up (Open Category) [1][2][3][4] and was awarded funding from BravoFACT.[5] She collaborates frequently with cinematographer Mathieu Séguin.
