The 2015–16 season was Torquay United's 117th season of existence and their second consecutive season in the National League.[3] Along with competing in the National League, the club also participated in the FA Cup and FA Trophy. The season covered the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016.

Pre-season friendlies

On 14 May 2015, Torquay United had reached an agreement with Tiverton Town for a pre-season friendly on 15 July 2015.[36] On 20 May 2015, Torquay United announced their second pre-season friendly against Exeter City.[37] On 9 June 2015, two more friendlies were confirmed against Truro City[38] and Yeovil Town.[39] On 12 June 2015, Torquay United announced they will host Plymouth Argyle.[40] On 29 June 2015, the Gulls announced they will face local side Liverton United on 7 July 2015.[41] On 6 July 2015, Torquay United confirmed a friendly against Galmpton United.[42] On 11 July 2015, Torquay United announced Newport County will visit on 18 July.[43] On 30 July 2015, Torquay United added a final pre-season friendly to the schedule.[44]
