During the 2016–17 season, the Guildford Flames participated in the semi-professional English Premier Ice Hockey League. It was the 25th year of ice hockey played by the Guildford Flames and the tenth season under Paul Dixon as head coach. The club was defending the Cup and Playoff title captured in the previous season.
After a tough opening month of the regular season that saw the club lose four of their first six games (including all three at home), the Flames decided to make some roster changes. They released netminder Richard Ullberg,[1] who made 6 League and Cup starts this season, posting a 4.94 goals against average and an 85.1 save percentage.
On the same day the club announced the signing of Slovakian forward Jakub Kubis to the roster. The 6'1, 195lb skater transferred from the Slovak side Povazska Bystrica.[2]
The Flames also added netminders Dean Skinns from Milton Keynes Lightning and former Finnish Elite League goaltender Joonas Kuusela.
Ticketing
Adult tickets increased in price from the previous season. Individual home game tickets can be purchased one month prior to a match day. They are available online; by calling the Guildford Spectrum Box Office on 01483 443333 (50p surcharge on all phone bookings); or they can be collected in person at the Spectrum reception. A 'Child' ticket is for people under the age of 16; an 'OAP' ticket is only for people over the age of 60. Due to a partnership with 96.4 Eagle Radio a number of games are designated 'Kids Go Free' when under-16 tickets are complimentary.
