Alcatraz (Cape Verdean Creole: Alkatrás) is a village in the eastern part of the island of Maio. The village is around 15 km northeast of the island capital of Vila do Maio. Its 2010 population was 232. Only nearly a kilometer apart is the settlement of Pilão Cão. The settlement was only connected with trails or tracks before the 1980s, it would be connected with a dirt road and would become connected with pavement in the late 2000s.
Its football (soccer) club is Santa Clara, the club first registered into the Maio Football Association in 2016 and will participate in the Maio Regional Second Division for the 2015/16 season.
