The Arizona Flame is an International Basketball League team. The team started playing home games at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum,[1] a venue much larger than most IBL venues, but later moved its games to Grand Canyon University. The Flame was Phoenix's first minor league basketball team since the Phoenix Eclipse folded after the 2001-2002 ABA season. It is owned by Stephen Moss-Kelley, a former IBL all-star. The owners of the Phoenix Flame will also be the owners of the new IBL team in Arizona, the Arizona Lightning.

Arizona Lightning
On February 19, 2007, The Phoenix Flame owners acquired a new IBL franchise, the Arizona Lightning. The Lightning will be an official IBL team for the 2008 season, making it the second professional minor league basketball team in the state. The Lightning hit the court in 2007 as a traveling team for the IBL. This new expansion team will allow more local talent the opportunity to show case their basketball skills and provide additional resources throughout the Arizona community.
