BNS Joyjatra is a Type 035G (Ming Class) diesel electric submarine of the Bangladesh Navy. She is one of the first two submarines of the Bangladesh Navy.

History

The ship served People's Liberation Army Navy Submarine Force with pennant number 357. Before joining Bangladesh Navy, she went through upgradation and refiting process which extended its lifetime to 2030. The upgradation process includes the installation of new sensors and communication systems.

Career

The ship was handed over to Bangladesh Navy on 14 November 2016.[1][2] She is under sea trial now.

Sensors

Joyjatra uses Chinese H/SQ2-262C active sonar (improved Pike Jaw MG-100 sonar), a Chinese copy of the French DUUX-5 passive sonar, integrated by an ES5F integrated sonar system.

The boat uses MRK-50 Topol (Snoop Tray) surface search radar, a Magnavox SAT NAV system for communications, with a Type 921A EW Suite.

Armaments

Joyjatra has eight 533 mm (21.0 in) torpedo tubes which can launch a complement of 14 Yu-4 heavyweight anti-surface torpedoes. Alternatively, the boat can carry 32 naval mines.[3]
