Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology (BHSBIET) is a brain-child of the Government of Punjab. It was established in 2005.
History
To promote technical education in this area Government of Punjab, India has taken many steps. Government Polytechnic at Lehragaga is already running in the campus of the Institute since 1996. The institute is renamed after freedom fighter of “Parja Mandal movement” Baba Hira Singh Ji Bhattal Late father of Ex Deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab (India) Sardarni Rajinder Kaur Bhattal. Founder Principal of this College Harinder Pal Singh the then Additional Director of Technical Education Punjab was assigned this task and he established the college in a record time of 6 Months and made admissions in the same year after completing the infrastructure.

Infrastructure
WORKSHOP: The inevitable part played by Mechanical engineering field has an integral part of the engineering institution. The department helps to maintain the right blend of theory and practice and enables the students to have a firm grasp of basic principles in enhancing their ability to design practical Machines. Core labs and Workshops are functioning under this department are following: The workshop departments cater the needs of both degree & polytechnic wings of the institute. The central workshop has 8 fully equipped workshops.
COMPUTER CENTRE: To keep pace with the latest trends in Industry, the campus is well equipped with Wi-Fi Internet Facility. In addition to this, the students are exposed various software packages like Autocad, Matlab, Oracle, Visual Basic, C++, etc. to enable them to utilize the knowledge of these packages into their day-to-day engineering applications
LIBRARY: The Institute's Library holds about 20,000 books which includes technical books, Books, Reports, Proceedings, Periodicals, National and International Journals

ACCOMMODATION : BHSBIET has Separate Boys and Girls Hostels are available in the campus having 24 Hours Internet Connectivity, Hot water Supply through Solar Water Heating Plants, 24 Hours Uninterrupted Power Supply etc. BHSBIET knows well about the importance of Boarding and Lodging facilities as these constitute the base for qualitative Academic pursuits.
MEDICAL FACILITY: The institute understands the need of Medical Facilities. The institute provides special medical facilities as the institute is having two Doctors belonging to Allopathic and Homeopathic disciplines. The medical facility is available round the clock.
SPORTS ACTIVITIES: The institute is keen in setting up congenial environment to nurture and channelize energy of the youth in positive direction by orienting them towards the sports activities. The institute boasts of having state of the art infrastructure relating to sports including well developed grounds, experienced and dedicated coaches etc.
GYMNASIUM: Keeping in view the rational anecdote that “Healthy mind resides in the healthy body”, the institute is having fully loaded gymnasium for both Boys and Girls.
