Best of the Cowboy Junkies is a 2001 greatest hits compilation of Cowboy Junkies' songs recorded for RCA Records. It was compiled by the label without the band's authorization or approval, and most Internet fansites advise that the album should consequently be boycotted by fans. Such sites usually recommend the purchase of the band's 2000 release Waltz Across America, or the individual albums, instead.
RCA released a second compilation, Cowboy Junkies: The Platinum and Gold Collection, in 2003.
All songs are drawn from the band's RCA Records albums: The Trinity Session, The Caution Horses, Black Eyed Man and Pale Sun Crescent Moon.
