"Fort Collins" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Hopsin, featuring Funk Volume label mate, Dizzy Wright. The song was released on September 3, 2015 and serves as the fourth and final single from Hopsin's fourth studio album, Pound Syndrome.[1] The song is named after Fort Collins, Colorado, which was the scene where Hopsin suffered a mental breakdown before he was due to perform on stage, causing him to leave prematurely. "Fort Collins" is also the final single Hopsin released on Funk Volume before his departure from the label in early 2016.[2]
Background
The track is a considered to be one of Hopsin's most personal songs, as he discusses his personal depression,[3] suicidal thoughts, and the issues he suffered when creating his comeback third studio album, Knock Madness.[4] In the song, he states he "didn't know what I was rapping for" and the various personal struggles suffered by Hopsin during the time of Knock Madness' release.[5] Dizzy Wright's perspective in the song is him not understanding why Hopsin had left the show, and offers advice to him.
The song is widely considered to be one of the more critically successful songs off Pound Syndrome with many fans praising the song's chorus and lyrics.
