Gillespie Township is located in Macoupin County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,882 and it contained 1,831 housing units.[1]
History
Gillespie Township is named for Judge Joseph Gillespie.[2]
Geography
According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 36.16 square miles (93.7 km2), of which 35.65 square miles (92.3 km2) (or 98.59%) is land and 0.51 square miles (1.3 km2) (or 1.41%) is water.[1]
