Haxtun is a Statutory Town in Phillips County, Colorado, United States. The population was 946 at the 2010 census.[5]

As of the census[9] of 1990, there were 481 people, 213 households, and 98 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,963.0 people per square mile (758.3/km²). There were 490 housing units at an average density of 979.5 per square mile (378.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.15% White, 0.10% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.41% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 1.32% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.04% of the population.

There were 418 households out of which 28.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were married couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% were non-families. 32.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.26 and the average family size was 2.83.

In the town the population was spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 28.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,625, and the median income for a family was $38,906. Males had a median income of $31,190 versus $19,519 for females. The per capita income for the town was $16,370. About 6.3% of families and 12.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.9% of those under age 18 and 8.6% of those age 65 or over.
