Herbert Henzler

Herbert Erwin Albert Henzler (born 3 November 1941 in Plochingen) is a German management consultant.

Life

Herbert A. Henzler, after his apprenticeship as a wholesale merchant in Shell business administration, studied at the University of Siegen in Siegen, at the University of Saarland in Saarbrücken, at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich and the University of California, Berkeley. He belonged to the first crop of gifted education of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. In 1970 he started as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he became partner in 1975. In 1978 he was elected director. In 1983 he became a member of the "Shareholders Committee". In 1985 he became the successor of John G. McDonald as head of the German office. In 1999 Jürgen Kluge was his successor. He was then "European Chairman" of McKinsey & Company; In 2001, he left McKinsey in its operational function.

From 1992 Herbert Henzler is an honorary professor of strategic and organizational consulting at the University of Munich.

Since early 2004, Herbert Henzler is Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee of the Bavarian state government. This committee advises the Bavarian Cabinet in matters of academic, educational, research and technology policy. The committee consists of members of the Bavarian university landscape and leading Bavarian companies. This was until 2009 staffed identically to the Scientific Advisory Board of the Bavarian ResearchFoundation, chaired by Herbert Henzler between 2004-2009. Herbert Henzler is also active in several boards, such as the FC Bayern München. He was from 2002 to 2012 Chairman of the Advisory Board of Credit Suisse Germany and also served as Senior Advisor of Credit Suisse Group. Since late 2012 he has been an advisor at investment bank Moelis & Company.

Herbert Henzler has published books and articles on issues of strategic management as well as to economic and social policy issues. Several of his books on the latter topics in collaboration with Lothar Späth.

He is a member of the Group Advisory Board of Deutsche Bahn.
