As of 2016, there are six coal fired power plants generating 5,027MW of power.[2] PacifiCorp's Hunter plant, which generated 213MW, was decommissioned in 2015.

As of 2015, there are three plants producing 28MW of power. All three plants are located in the South-West corner of Utah. There have been five plants shutdown in the last 20 years.[3]

Although there are currently no nuclear power stations in Utah, an initiative to gain approval to construct the state's first nuclear power plant has been underway since 2007.[8]
