Macaé Esporte Futebol Clube, usually known simply as Macaé, is a Rio de Janeiro 1st division Brazilian football team from the city of Macaé, Rio de Janeiro state, founded on July 17, 1990. The club has competed in the Série C since 2010 season.
History
Macaé finished as the 2009 Série D runners-up after being defeated by São Raimundo in the final.[2]
In the year of 2014, unlike the last two years, the Macae made a troubled campaign in the Série C and only managed to classification for the final phase in the last round, as placed fourth in Group B. In quarter-finals, garnered winner after two clashes against the and, finally, won the unprecedented access to Série B. The time of Josué Teixeira came to the history of the club to exit with the classification in front of more than 62 thousand fans of Fortaleza, in full Castelão. After passing the CRB in the semi-final, the alvianil praiano reached the final against the Paysandu. In the game of ida, equalized in Moacyrzão by 1–1. Already in the game back in the face of almost 38 thousand fans at Mangueirão, the club won its first national title after a tie at 3–3 .[3]
Stadium
The home stadium Moacyrzão was not approved for 2009 Campeonato Estadual Carioca, due to the renewal of the whole stadium. A concrete structure was lifted, but the building process is far from complete yet. Then new stadium is said to hold 25,000 people, when done, besides having stores and a school underneath the seats structure. Unfortunately, there will be no floodlights yet.
As the Carioca championship is underway, Macaé Esporte is playing his "Homeground" matches in Araruama, a city 100 kilometers far away of Macaé, the hometown of the club. The stadium which Macaé is playing as homeground is the Arena Guanabara, owned by Guanabara Esporte Clube, a small but very comfortable stadium, which has a small capacity of 2.000 people. Just for instance, in Macaé's first match of the championship, against Volta Redonda on January 24, 2009, the public was said to be 541.

The official colors are yellow, blue and white.
