Malpi international school
Malpi International School was established in June 1999. It is one of the rising schools of Nepal. The school was conceptualized by the idea of a group of 50 professionals and was designed by Architects Deepak Man Sherchan and Jyoti Shrechan ( Creative Builders Collaborative, CBC architectural firm).[1][2] The main reason for the establishment of the school was to help preserve the current culture of the country and fiscal drain that families are undergoing by having to send their children to other countries for a good and quality education. Malpi also participates in international activities, exchange programs, treks and many other programs. Malpi provides quality wholesome education and also focuses in the overall development of the students so that they can easily adopt in the real world.[3]
Location
Malpi International School is located in Panauti village far away from the chaos of the Kathmandu Valley’s cities and in the heights of Panauti village, just beside the Roshi River (Malpi-9, Panauti, Kavre, Panauti 00977, Nepal).[4]
Environment of the school
Malpi is located far away from the city area. The school spread on approximately 105 ropani of land and has several football field, volleyball court, basketball courts, multi-purpose hall and well-maintained separate hostels for boys and girls. It is surrounded by rich natural vegetation, traditional culture of the village and just beneath the school lies the river Roshi. Malpi international school has unique structured buildings with furnished library, computer and science laboratory, internal road network that links up the whole school, street light all over the road and surrounded by variety of plants and trees all over the places which provide a favorable learning and healthy environment for students.
Education
Malpi International School is a co-ed residential school. To ensure child-centered learning, the School limits the number of students in a class to the minimum. Malpi International School intakes students from grade 4 to 10 in residential school and also has Malpi primary school, Malpi city school for non-resident students and after graduation (passing SLC (school leaving certificate)) Malpi also has a program for higher education. Classes for 25 to 30 students are designed with two sides open for abundant daylighting and cross ventilation, which eases the class sessions. Malpi has both Nepalese and International teachers who are exceptionally experienced in teaching and can providea good standard of formal education through a broad and balanced curriculum.[5] The school also takes part in international educational exchange programs and also provides an opportunity for the students to learn foreign languages.[6]
Co-curricular activities
Malpi international school strongly believes in the ‘holistic development’. It encourages their students in outdoor education equally as much as indoor education. The school hosts many outdoor activities like treks, International Exchange programs, Educational Excursions and trips within Nepal and outside. The most important event the school hosts is the school play, the PHY-EX (physical excellence), winter festival and the Parent Teacher Student meeting (PSTM). The School also offers many activities, like clubs, Inter-House competitions, Horse-riding, Swimming, Pottery and many more. Folk dance, music, martial arts like karate and physical activities most popular among the children like football, basketball, hockey, handball, table-tennis, are taught by experts in the field, during and after school hours. Medical services are also provided by the school. All activities are geared towards helping students build their social awareness, emotional awareness, communicate well, and team up effectively with others.[7]
