Marin Commute Club
Marin Commute Club is an unincorporated commute club that provides public transportation service in the San Francisco Bay Area. The commute club is administered by UCSF Transportation Services[1] and service is administered by Golden Gate Transit.
History
The Marin Commute Club began service in 1971, providing a link from Marin County to UCSF.[2] There was no scheduled public transit service by Golden Gate Transit at the club's inception, and Golden Gate Transit has never provided regularly scheduled bus service to UCSF.
The club participates in the "Club Bus" program administered by Golden Gate Transit, which provides contract support and a 30 percent subsidy for the cost of service.[3] As required by the program, a not-for-profit organization collects riders' subscription fees and develops schedules.
Since the Valley of the Moon Commute Club hit financial difficulties in 2011, the Marin Commute Club is the only remaining service administered through the "Club Bus" program.[4]
Service
The club provides two southbound morning trips and two northbound afternoon trips per day Monday-Friday.[5] Bus service in Marin County is provided in Novato, San Rafael, and at various bus pad stops along Highway 101. Buses stop at four locations in San Francisco affiliated with UCSF.
Fares
Monthly subscription fees for the service, which vary based on boarding location and number of days per week used, range from $62.31 to $292.66 per person. Single rides are available for $8 one-way or $16 round-trip. Prepaid 10-ride cards are available for $70.[6]
