Matthew Thomas Palmer is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Football League One side Burton Albion.

Playing career

Palmer is a 21-year-old professional footballer currently at Burton Albion. When aged 17 he won a first team squad number at Burton Albion whilst still a second year scholar in the 2012–13 season. Having secured the award for most improved young player at the end of his first season as a scholar at the club and impressed manager Gary Rowett with his "calmness and maturity".[2] He made his debut as a late substitute for Jacques Maghoma in the FA Cup on 15 November 2012, in a 2–0 win over Altrincham at Moss Lane.[3] He made his League Two debut on 5 April 2013, coming on for Lee Bell 79 minutes into a 7–1 defeat to Port Vale at Vale Park.[4] Palmer's first professional goal came in a 2–0 home win over Hereford United in the first round of the FA Cup on 10 November 2013.

On 22 January 2016, Palmer signed for Football League One side Oldham Athletic on a one-month loan deal.[5]
