Mazhar Ul Haq High School, (Urdu, مظہرُالحق ہائی سکول بیروہ) also known as MHHS, is a co-educational day boarding school in Beerwah, Badgam.[1] It is affiliated to Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education and is recognised by State Department of Education. It was established in 1934 and was among the first schools of district Badgam. It is one of the oldest private schools of Kashmir Valley.

Location

The school is located in Beerwah, Badgam on Doodhpathri road. It is located at foothills of Bairam (Stone Mountain) and is neighbored by Jamia Masjid Beerwah from west and Guruduwara from the east.

History

The school was established in 1934, almost 13 years before the dawn of independence in India.It was founded by no less a versatile personality than Sir Syed Sani Maulana Syed Ali Shah Bukhari.[2] First it used to run as a madrassah for the poor and needy students of the society. Sir Syed Sani who contributed in every aspect of life as a social reformer, religious preacher, political leader and an educationist took a daring initiative in founding the school when there was not even a single school in whole District Badgam. Since then School has played an important role in carving the future of Beerwah and has benefitted and enlightened thousands of people with its service. The first batch of students passed the Matric examination from this school in 1943 from Punjab University Lahore. The founder of the school was given title of Sir Syed Sani by the then Chief Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah.

Overview

The School has two buildings, a two storey heritage building with 15 rooms, a library and a laboratory. Besides this the school has a two storey concrete building with 14 rooms. The school has also a computer lab, an auditorium and a guest house.

There is also a spring in main compound of the school which is the main source of water for the students. The water of the spring is pure and delicious. The spring adds to the charm and beauty of the school.

Courses Offered

Classes are from Nursery to 10th grade. Among the other subjects English, Arabic, Computer Science and Information Technology are available.

Among the visitors some famous personalities are former Prime Minister/Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq , Gulam Hassan Gamgeen and various other local, national and international dignitaries.
