Muqur District is a district located within Badghis Province in the western part of Afghanistan. It is located between the districts of Ab Kamari to the east, Qala i Naw to the south, Qadis to the southeast and Murghab to the northeast. To the north is the national border with Turkmenistan. The district is in a long river valley.Muqur district was one of the insecure districts in Western Badghis province, There were various local Taliban commanders which were disturbing the peace and security.
Mullah Eidi Gul was one of the famous insurgent Taliban commanders in Muqur region who recently joined to Afghan Government by the help of local elders and National Security Directorate of Badghis. Now the district is assumed as a secure and peaceful region in Badghis Province.
