Nizamuddin East is an upscale residential colony in Delhi, India. It is located on Mathura Road and is home to Humayun's Tomb, one of Delhi's most famous monuments, as well as that of Abdul Rahim Khan-I-Khana. It is considered to be one of New Delhi's greenest and most peaceful residential colonies. The colony has 286 houses, including Jaipur Estate, and 32 public parks.

Inside the colony is a small center of the Arya Samaj.

Commercial area

There is a commercial strip in the colony, with several grocers, a cafe, an internet and telephone facility, a tailor, beauty salon, a pharmacy, and a small eatery. The Resident Welfare Association has a Community Centre for residents with facilities for various sports including, tennis, basketball, table tennis, badminton and pool. The Nizamuddin East Colony Association President is Rahul Sawhny and the Secretary is Sunil Vadehra.

Nizamuddin, named after the 13th century Sufi saint, is a centrally located residential area within the ring road. Set in the backdrop of the spectacular Humayuns tomb, to its north and Khan Khana Tomb to its South, Nizamuddin East is an attractive residential district for many reasons.

Proximity to the French School, United Nations offices and Central business district, superior civic amenities and large green areas, make it a preferred neighbourhood for numerous expatriates and corporate executives. Its history and charm attract numerous writers, artists and creative people to Nizamuddin. Proximity to the High Court, has attracted numerous eminent lawyers and advocates to the neighbourhood.

Nizamuddin East is one of the few walkable districts with landscaped gardens, roundabouts and footpaths. Morning and evening walkers take advantage of the 5 acre expanse of the Humayun Tomb with its gravel tracks, fountains and walking tracts.
