Randolph S. Driver

Randolph S. Driver (1911-1978) was United States Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) in 1968-69.

Biography

Randolph S. Driver was born in 1911 and educated at the University of Pennsylvania.[1]

Upon graduating, Driver took a job with Atlantic Richfield, where he would work as an executive for thirty years, most notably as Atlantic Richfield's director of industrial relations.[1] He became a lecturer on industry at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania effective June 1961.

In 1966, President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson appointed Driver Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy.[1] Among other things, he was a member of the Military Compensation Policy Board at this time.[2] In 1968, President Johnson nominated Driver as the first Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs), and Driver subsequently held this office from September 1968 until January 1969.[3]

Upon leaving government service, Driver became a Professor of Graduate Studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a post he still held when he died on January 4, 1978.[1]
